So This Is Us...
Deanna and I met at Wittenberg University. She was the head RA and kicked me out of another girls room my first night at school--we were playing cards past Co-ed visitation hours. It's been love ever since. We struggled to get pregnant. Which is pretty funny looking at us now. Yup, 6 children! We own a church van to drive us around town. Seriously. And I love it all.
A big part of our story is our mixture of kids. 6 of them. 3 are biological. 3 are adopted. They are all ours. Being their dad is awesome. They are great kids. Except when they aren't. Even still, it is a joy to be their dad and to grow together as a family. Much of my writing is inspired by this crew and our journey of life together. In fact, during the summer of 2017, we took an epic 42 day RV trip across the US. And if I had the opportunity to do it again tomorrow, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Many of the pictures throughout this site are from that trip.
I'm also a follower of Jesus. I strive to be one of His disciples. I mess up all the time. But I'm growing and learning. And it is in the growing and the learning that I hope to share some things here that will help you. I'm a Lutheran pastor and this slants much of what I write--hopefully in a good way.
Several years ago I completed my doctorate at Portland Seminary, formerly George Fox University Seminary, in Oregon. And I'm often reminded that I'm the kind of Doctor that doesn't help people. Humility is good, right? But, I do hope that some of my practical training, my unique perspective on faith and life, as well as my ability to articulate the truths of Jesus and His church are helpful to you on your journey to know Him. As such, I like to think of myself as a sacramental disciple. But, more on that in the blog. Thanks for stopping by. I would love to hear from you and join with you in this journey of faith.
